Georgia is an independent country with its own system of governance. It declared full independence as early as 1918, and had since been governed by political parties under democratic influences.

Election is held in Georgia to determine the governing party that will decide on domestic and international affairs. The ruling party who has won the election will appoint a leader of the country, as represented by the Prime Minister. Cabinet ministers from winning party members will be appointed to execute the national policy for Georgia such as transportation, agriculture and tourism.

Laws governing Georgia will be debated in Parliament by appointed member of representatives. Parliament members are voted into office during the election and are responsible for their constituent’s welfare. There are about 16 different political parties in Georgia. Member of parliaments can serve their residents for a fixed term of four years. After the four years, election will be held again to determine the new member. The member of parliaments plays an important role in deciding on the country’s future direction in terms of economic growth.

Georgia’s democratic political system is fairly mature as it has been practiced since independence and many citizens are well educated and informed when it comes to voting for their future and country.
